Pre-Enrollment Procedures - NEW ONLINE ENROLLMENT

Durant Public Schools is excited to announce our NEW ONLINE enrollment process beginning with the 2020-2021 School Year.  The enrollment/application process can be done on any computer, tablet or even your smart phone. If you do not have access to one of these, please make arrangements with a friend, family member or perhaps the public library to complete the process.  Please take a few minutes to watch the video below for a demonstration on how this process works.  It will answer many of the questions you might have. 

Please note that only the legal parent/guardian are allowed to enroll a student.
Parents of returning students MUST have a Parent Portal Account in order to enroll your student. Parents without a Parent Portal Account should call their child’s school office to set one up. It is only necessary to call ONE of the schools to set up your account, if you have students in multiple schools.

It is recommended that you have the following items ready to upload (photos or scanned on the device you are using) before you start the online process:

  1. Birth Certificate – Required for all new enrollees (not required if you were enrolled in Durant Public Schools during the 2019-2020 school year.)
  2. Immunization Records – Required for all new enrollees and incoming 7th
  3. Proofs of Residency Documents – Accepted items include: Lease, Electric, Gas and Water bills ONLY. These need to be dated no later than March 2020 and CAN NOT have a cut-off notice on them. No other documents will be accepted.  If these documents are not in the name of the parent/guardian, please go ahead and upload the documents and understand that a 3rd Party Affidavit will be required to be signed by the individual whose name is on the bill(s).  This must be done in front of school officials BEFORE the application will be processed. 
  4. Legal Documents – This could be custody papers, foster care paper work, etc. These documents must be court ordered. Notarized statements are not accepted.  Signed foster care placement papers are required for a foster parent to enroll a child. 
  5. Parent/Legal Guardian’s Driver’s License or State Issued Photo ID
  6. Front & back of CDIB if applicable.
  7. Previous School Records/Information – This applies to new students enrolling within our District after attending a different school district. We will need the name, address and phone number of the student’s previous school.
  8. Names and Phone numbers of Emergency Contacts – It will be helpful to gather this information prior to starting the process.

WHEN CAN WE ENROLL?

For grades Kindergarten through 12th, the enrollment window will open on Monday, May 4th and remain open thru July 31st, for new and returning students.  We encourage you to take care of this as quickly as possible, please do not put it off until the last minute or your child’s enrollment could be delayed.  If you are enrolling a new Pre-K student along with your older student, applications must be submitted prior to the June 5th deadline for Pre-K.

For Pre-K students, the application window will open on Monday, May 4th and will close on Friday, June 5th at 3 PM.   Students must be 4 years old, on or before September 1, 2020 to apply.   ALL Pre-K students, those living in the school district and transfers, interested in going to Robert E Lee Early Childhood Center can complete the application during this time.  All students that reside in the Durant School District boundaries will be processed first, then if space allows the transfers will be processed based off of the time the completed application is submitted. A completed application is one that includes ALL required documentation. Transfer students must have a transfer application on file with the district or their application will not even be considered.   Pre-K application does NOT guarantee enrollment. Space in Pre-K is limited so apply early.

NEW STUDENT ONLINE ENROLLMENT (For students who are New to the district, including Pre-K & any students who have attended DISD, but did not finish this school year at DISD)

RETURNING STUDENT ONLINE ENROLLMENT (All returning students and Pre-K additions/siblings to a returning student)

Instructions for accessing the enrollment portal through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal:

1. Login to the Parent Portal using the link above (returning student online enrollment)

2. On the left, black side-bar, choose "More" at the bottom.

3. From the More menu, select "Online Registration"


 Admissions

Students entering the Durant Independent School District (regardless of grade level) must be accompanied by a parent or legal custodian & meet the following admission requirements at the beginning of the current school year:

  • Be at least four years old on or before September 1st of the current school year (not calendar year)
  • Submit a legal birth certificate or have one on file
  • Be up-to-date on current vaccinations in accordance to the Oklahoma School Immunization Law

The Oklahoma School Immunization Law requires the following vaccination schedule:

  • 2 doses of MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella) - only 1 required for Pre-Kindergarten enrollment
  • 5 doses of DTP (DTAP) - only 4 required for Pre-Kindergarten enrollment
  • 4 doses of Polio - only 3 required for Pre-Kindergarten enrollment
  • 3 doses of Hepatitis B (PK-12)
  • 2 doses of Hepatitis A (PK-12)
  • 1 dose of Varicella (Chicken Pox) (PK-12)
  • 1 dose TDAP (7-12) 

 Documentation Requirements

The following documents must be brought with the parent or legal custodian of the student(s) on the day of enrollment. Students may not attend classes until the following day.

  • TWO Proofs of Residency (Water, Gas or Electric Bill, or Lease/Rental Agreement)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Official Immunization Records
  • Academic Information (including name, address, phone and fax of previous school; withdrawal form; transcripts or report cards)

Northwest Heights and Washington Irving house grades K-3. Robert E. Lee is PreK. Durant ISD is zoned for attendance areas as per this map. In the center of the district is an overlap area, in which students may choose to attend either NWH or WI, based on availability. When selecting housing, refer to the map for your attendance zone. If your housing is in a border area, please be sure to verify your attendance zone with the school district or the Bryan County Assessor’s Office, as the map is only a close representation.
