Indian Education

Opportunities for Success

Indian Education is a Pre-K through 12th Grade program within the Durant Independent School District. Our office is located at 1313 Waco Street adjacent to the Durant Public School's administration office building. Our program is funded by two programs—Johnson O'Malley and Title-VII. We are currently serving over 1,000 students and working with the District to encourage the Native American students to succeed in their ongoing education opportunities.

Mission and Services

Our mission is to cooperate with and assist the District with programs that will benefit Indian students, both academically and personally. We do so by providing the following services:

Study Center

The study center provides daily tutoring for students who are participating in the program.

Parent Committee Meetings

Parent committee meetings provide a forum to discuss issues concerning the children in our program.

School Supplies

Our program is able to provide various school supplies for the students in our program.

Enrichment Programs

We also host enrichment programs in the summer to reinforce academic skills, take field trips, participate in art and crafts, and work in the computer lab.

Choctaw Nation Of Oklahoma

The Choctaw Nation's website offers information about many programs and services as well as the history of the tribe.
